Become Employee Carbon Neutral and Make Money at the same time

Company’s Carbon footprints
Each company has different CO2 emissions and that must be calculated individually. However, it is possible to do so, based on several different criteria. More and more companies are making calculations on how much CO2 they emit in a given production line (this is called Carbon footprints) and then they can make the whole production of a certain product CO2 neutral, by buying CO2 emission units from trees. Carbon footprints provide a measure of how much impact an individual/family or company has on the planet, and a “carbon label” is an indication of a company’s amount of CO2 emitted as a result of producing goods and services. In the years to come, companies will probably start producing ONLY product, which are CO2 neutral and have a “carbon label”, because THE CUSTOMERS WILL SOON DEMAND IT. Some companies take a different approach and calculate how much CO2 their employees are polluting and compensate for those emissions. The company then becomes “Employee Carbon Neutral”. This shows that a company takes care of their employees by helping them become carbon neutral. This should be a part of any company’s social responsibility (CSR).
Ex. The company has 10 employees that emits approximately 5 ton CO2 a year each. 2 Better Globe trees captures 1 ton CO2 over 20 years. This means that if the company adopts 100 Better Globe trees all the company’s employees are carbon neutral for one year.
This way the company can be categorized as a GREEN “Employee Carbon Neutral” company and will get a certificate for that to be used in their internal/external marketing.

- The criteria for the company to become “Employee Carbon Neutral” are determined by the number of employees the company has and that the company adopts the necessary number of trees for this purpose.
- The company adopts that particularly number of trees from Better Globe and the company keeps them as an asset for 20 years. - The cost of the adoption tree is PhP 1000 per tree.

A company has 10 employees which emits approx.5 ton CO2 (family per year) and therefore the company adopts 100 Better Globe trees to offset these emissions which is 50 ton CO2.
The total cost is PhP 1000 per tree x 100 = PhP 100,000
The 20th. year, at the end of the term, the company gets PhP 10,000 x 100 = PhP 1,000,000
That means from PhP 100,000 “invested in tree adoption each year” the harvest from the trees is PhP 1,000,000 - paid back the 20th. year.
The company will make a lot of money from their adopted trees harvest and become “Employee Carbon Neutral” as a bonus on top of the profit.
That is an excellent win/win situation and it can hardly become better.
